Since November, I have only received newsletter input from the President, Secretary, Asst Secretary and Historian (I may have missed someone) We have events and activities and a cell phone photo would suffice on covering it. What I need is information. Our officers, committee chairs, and members. Bios/resumes can be turned into a good profile of a member. A note on how the Vietnam era changed one's outlook on life. Problems met and overcome along the way. Perhaps just recommendations on a good place to visit, eat - show seen. It would help to make the Chapter Newsletter of, for, and about members.
Most general veteran information and changes will be sent out separately.
What has not been covered well are some of the units are members served with. All I need are general things like who, what, when, where. I can research the unit. I did this for one unit and found it had been awarded a Presidential Unit Citation.
Even inquiries for those who have little information on their units can lead to discoveries.
Send me a simple bio. A good photo with wife, where the veteran pathway has taken you. We want to know you.

The USO Las Vegas is gearing up for the Air Force Trials for the Wounded Warrior games and could use your help. The Air Force Trials will be held on Feb 25 through March 5 at Nellis Air Force Base. At this event wounded Airmen from across the country come to Nellis to compete in various events/activities such as swimming, track and field, archery and many more for a chance to represent the Air Force at the Wounded Warrior Games.
Every year, USO Las Vegas helps sponsor this event by providing snacks/drinks every day, as well we provide and coordinate volunteers at the various events. This year we are also assisting with the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at the Renaissance Hotel and Casino on February 25th and March 5th, respectively.
Below are the time slots we are looking to secure volunteers for the games. Our goal is to have 6 volunteers per shift. Most of the events will be at Nellis AFB unless otherwise indicated below. We will provide each volunteer with a USO t-shirts and they will either be helping our USO Mobile unit hand out snacks/waters or at one of the various events that will be taking place during their scheduled time slot. As we get closer, we will let the volunteers on each shift know exactly where to meet and hand out assignments as needed. Some of the events include, shooting, archery, track and field, swimming, cycling, sitting volleyball, basketball skills.
If you are interested or know anyone who would be interested in helping, we will need to know the name of the volunteer, their email address, their cell phone number and what shift they would like to sign up for so we can put them down in our master calendar.
We are also looking for local entertainers who would like to attend the Opening and/or Closing Ceremonies to let the Wounded Warrior athletes know how much we appreciate their service and sacrifices. If you know anyone who would like to perform, please let me know!
