Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible;
and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

Dear Subscriber,
Counterinsurgency in the US
Operation Jade is an joint military and interagency (IA) Unconventional Warfare exercise to be conducted throughout Texas, Arizona, California, Utah, and Colorado this summer. So far, the bulk of the activities are planned for Texas. Many people, including me, are asking why we would conduct such an exercise now; our military is very, very low on funds and our enemy is Islamic State. What am I missing?
A Salute to Those who Fly off Carriers
These videos show the difference between Naval Aviation and any other kind. The links below are two outstanding videos about F-18 carrier operations aboard the USS Nimitz during weather that causes a severely pitching deck, which you can see in the videos. It's more dangerous than most combat missions and the tension in the pilots and crew is very apparent.
A Salute to our Submarine Force
This is a very good video production of how the USS Pennsylvania submarine works. It is a nuclear powered submarine powered by a lump of uranium the size of your fist that provides all of the power to navigate and provide power for all of the daily operations. It has been running since 1989 without having to refuel. Ever wonder how they get fresh air under water to last for months? How do they launch a nuclear warhead? How they can make the submarine quiet to avoid detection? This is fascinating!!
Features
Armed Forces Week
This Sunday, Mothers Day, is also the beginning of Armed Forces Week—which concludes on Saturday, 16 May, which is Armed Forces Day. Armed Forces Day is when we honor those presently in uniform. Memorial Day is for those who died in the service of our nation. Veterans Day is when we remember those who have served. Do something to honor those presently in the uniform of our nation who have volunteered to go into harms was to protect our freedoms.
But not all appreciate vets
The Main Stream Media doesn't trust vets; they feel free to lie about us and tell the public not to trust us. According to CNN the Baltimore riots were the fault of—yes—veterans. As I've told some of them, I've defended with my life your right to be wrong.
A Salute to this Vietnam Vet
Vietnam vet Robert Valentine is the one people are talking about. During the riot in Baltimore he stepped between a line of cops and rioters, telling the latter to go home. They could have killed him and he knew it. No fear.
An Amazing Story
This wonderful story is told by a deck of cards.
Artillery in Action
Watch these artillerymen get their weapons into place and put shells on the target. This old infantryman really appreciates this kind of professionalism.
Reveille
I got up to this on many a morning.

The end of the Vietnam War
Forty years ago late last month the Vietnam War ended as Saigon fell. It was a disaster, especially to all of us who served there. But, while all this was happening, the political left in the US were partying. Most people don't remember any of this.
Soldiers Heart and Post Traumatic Stress
Soldier's Heart is offering a series of webinars about tending the emotional, moral, and spiritual wounds resulting from war and military service. Program leaders Dr. Ed Tick, Ms. Kate Dahlstedt, and Rev. Chris Antal teach how to restore human connections damaged by war; how to recognize and nurture the wisdom earned through trauma; and how to foster genuine homecoming, reintegration, and post-traumatic growth.
To learn more and register, visit webinar registration page All webinars will be recorded and archived, so you can watch them later at your convenience.
Want to Feel like a Paratrooper?
This is as close to a jump as any film can be. Reminds me of my days in the 101st Airborne Division. One old sergeant told me he had more time in a T-10 (parachute) than I did in a T-shirt. Airborne!
Cheyenne Mountain returns
Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Spring, CO, long the home of NORAD (the North American Air Defense Command), was deactivated years ago—but, because of the threat of EMT, Electro Magnetic Pulse, attacks, the mountain is being re-activated.

The US Constitution
When members of our Armed Forces are sworn in, we all take an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the US against all enemies, foreign and domestic. The entire document, including all amendments, takes slightly less than 7600 words. We veterans and, indeed, all patriots, should read this document over and over again. It's not complicated.
Under our Constitution the citizens elect a Congress and a President. They decide where our nation's military will fight. It's the role of the military to fight and win wherever we're deployed. We do expect to be appreciated by those at home we defended—but we're also used to being dishonored by the media—like the CNN lady who blamed the Baltimore Riots on vets.
There are three national organizations that are focused on making our nation aware of, and practicing, the Constitution—and I'm active in all of them. The first is the Independence Caucus. You can find them at icaucus.org. The co-founder, Frank Anderson, is a friend of Frontlines of Freedom. The second is Concerned Veterans for America (cv4a.org); their founder, Pete Hegseth, is one of the sharpest and most patriotic guys I know. Finally, there's Combat Veterans for Congress (CVC.org).

Gunga Din
You may talk o' gin and beer
When you're quartered safe out 'ere, An' you're sent to penny-fights an' Aldershot it; But when it comes to slaughter You will do your work on water, An' you'll lick the bloomin' boots of 'im that's got it. Now in Injia's sunny clime, Where I used to spend my time A-servin' of 'Er Majesty the Queen, Of all them blackfaced crew The finest man I knew Was our regimental bhisti, Gunga Din. He was "Din! Din! Din! "You limpin' lump o' brick-dust, Gunga Din! "Hi! Slippy hitherao! "Water, get it! Panee lao "You squidgy-nosed old idol, Gunga Din."
The uniform 'e wore
Was nothin' much before, An' rather less than 'arf o' that be'ind, For a piece o' twisty rag An' a goatskin water-bag Was all the field-equipment 'e could find. When the sweatin' troop-train lay In a sidin' through the day, Where the 'eat would make your bloomin' eyebrows crawl, We shouted " Harry By!" Till our throats were bricky-dry, Then we wopped 'im 'cause 'e couldn't serve us all. It was "Din! Din! Din! "You 'eathen, where the mischief 'ave you been? "You put some juldee in it "Or I'll marrow you this minute "If you don't fill up my helmet, Gunga Din!"
'E would dot an' carry one
Till the longest day was done; An' 'e didn't seem to know the use o' fear. If we charged or broke or cut, You could bet your bloomin' nut, 'E'd be waitin' fifty paces right flank rear. With 'is mussick' on 'is back, 'E would skip with our attack, An' watch us till the bugles made "Retire," An' for all 'is dirty 'ide 'E was white, clear white, inside When 'e went to tend the wounded under fire! It was "Din! Din! Din!" With the bullets kickin' dust-spots on the green When the cartridges ran out, You could hear the front-ranks shout, "Hi! ammunition-mules an' Gunga Din!"
I sha'n't forgit the night
When I dropped be'ind the fight With a bullet where my belt-plate should 'a' been. I was chokin' mad with thirst, An' the man that spied me first Was our good old grinnin', gruntin' Gunga Din. 'E lifted up my 'ead, An' he plugged me where I bled,
An' 'e guv me 'arf-a-pint o' water green.
It was crawlin' and it stunk, But of all the drinks I've drunk, I'm gratefullest to one from Gunga Din. It was "Din! Din! Din! "'Ere's a beggar with a bullet through 'is spleen" "'E's chawin' up the ground, "An' 'e's kickin' all around: "For Gawd's sake git the water, Gunga Din!
'E carried me away
To where a dooli lay, An' a bullet come an' drilled the beggar clean. 'E put me safe inside, An' just before 'e died, "I 'ope you liked your drink" sez Gunga Din. So I'll meet 'im later on At the place where 'e is gone Where it's always double drill and no canteen. 'E'll be squattin' on the coals Givin' drink to poor damned souls, An' I'll get a swig in hell from Gunga Din! Yes, Din! Din! Din! You Lazarushian-leather Gunga Din! Though I've belted you and flayed you, By the livin' Gawd that made you, You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!
Note on vernacular expressions bhisti - water-carrier
hitherao - come here panee lao - bring water Harry By - O Brother juldee - quickly marrow - hit

Two quotes to consider.
To live under the American Constitution is the greatest political privilege that was ever accorded to the human race.
President Calvin Coolidge.
As life is action and passion, it is required of a man that he should share the passion and action of his time at peril of being judged not to have lived.
Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. (arguably the most articulate justice in the Supreme Court's history & himself a combat-experienced infantry officer in our Civil War)
Programming: You'll want to tune into the show (live or by podcast).
