Jack was a Life Member of Chapter 1315 and had a passion for serving the members and following the principles of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He organized and established the three chapters in Guam and the Department of Asia Pacific. He served several terms as Chapter Commander, Chapter Adjutant, Chapter Service officer, Department Commander, Department Senior Vice Commander, Department Welfare Officer and Department Service Officer. He also served two years as Region VI Commander.
Jack was in the United States Navy for 28 years, from 1957 to 1985, and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer. His tours of duty included amphibious ships, guided missile cruisers and the Navy Military Personnel Command in Washington DC. Jack had two tours in Vietnam, the first in Danang and the second in the Mekong Delta where he was wounded in 1970 while assigned to Mobile Riverine Force Rivron 13 during an intense phase of the war.
After his Navy Career, Jack went to work for the Government of Guam, retiring after holding the important positions of Chief of Police and later Director of Prisons.
Always positive and upbeat, Patriot Shimizu's unique leadership skills, wisdom, and warm personality will be missed by all. The National Commander and all of MOPH extend its deepest sympathies to the family of Patriot Shimizu.
